Terms of Use
By creating a Mentorise account, or by sharing a story through a Mentorise story link, you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please don't use the service.
1. About Mentorise
Mentorise is a career buddy: an AI companion you can talk to about what's going on in your career. It helps you see your situation differently by drawing on real, anonymised stories from people who have been through similar moments. People further along in their careers can also share their own stories to help others. The service is operated from the United Kingdom.

2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use Mentorise. By creating an account or sharing a story, you confirm that you meet this requirement. If we learn that a user is under 18, we will close their account and delete their data.
3. Your account
You sign in with your Google account. You are responsible for keeping your Google account secure and for all activity under your Mentorise account. Tell us straight away at hello@mentorise.co.uk if you think someone else has accessed it.
You may only hold one account. Accounts are personal and can't be transferred.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms.
4. Talking to your buddy
Important: Your buddy is an AI (built on OpenAI's models), not a person, and not a qualified professional. Its replies can be wrong, incomplete or not right for your situation. What it says is a perspective to think with, not professional career, legal, financial, medical or mental-health advice. Please use your own judgement, especially for important decisions. If you are struggling or in crisis, contact someone you trust or a support service. In the UK, you can call Samaritans free on 116 123, or 999 in an emergency.
Your buddy remembers what you tell it so it can follow up and make replies relevant to you. You can see what it knows under Your story. Our Privacy Policy explains how this data is handled.
5. Other people's stories
The stories your buddy draws on were shared by real people about their own careers. We read every story before it goes live, but we can't verify what happened. Each story is one person's perspective, not a rule or a prediction, and your buddy may summarise it in its own words. Mentorise is not responsible for decisions you make based on these stories.
6. Sharing your story
Ownership
Your story stays yours. You can share it in a conversation with your buddy or through a story link, and you can remove it at any time: reopen your story link or email us.
Licence to Mentorise
When you agree to share a story, you give Mentorise a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store it, show it to people using Mentorise in the way you chose (for example, by your role and industry only), and use it without your name to help its AI answer career questions. This licence ends when you remove the story or ask us to delete your account. We'll then take it down promptly, but we can't undo it having been read by others before then.
What you confirm
- It's about your own experience and is true to the best of your knowledge
- It doesn't name or identify other people, or reveal your employer's confidential information, in a way that could harm them
- You have the right to share it
We may decline to publish, or remove, any story at our discretion.
Story links
A story link lets someone share a story without creating an account. Anyone with the link can open it and see what was written there, so please don't pass on a link that was made for someone else.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Share false, misleading or defamatory content, or stories that aren't your own experience
- Identify, harass or make allegations about other people
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your background
- Use Mentorise for spam, harassment or any unlawful purpose
- Try to access other users' accounts or data without permission
- Scrape, crawl or systematically extract data from Mentorise
- Try to reverse-engineer or interfere with the platform or its AI systems
- Share content that infringes anyone else's intellectual property
- Put instructions in your messages or stories that are meant to manipulate the AI ("prompt injection")
8. Email
We email you if you ask for a reply through Feedback & help. We don't send marketing emails. If you opted in to email summaries in an earlier version of Mentorise, you can stop them at any time by emailing hello@mentorise.co.uk.
9. Intellectual property
All rights in the Mentorise platform, including its software, design, branding and AI systems, are owned by or licensed to Mentorise. Nothing in these Terms gives you any right in our intellectual property beyond what you need to use the service.
10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
Mentorise is provided "as is" and "as available". We make no warranties, express or implied, about the accuracy, reliability or fitness of the service, or of anything your buddy or other people's stories say, for any particular purpose.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Mentorise is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform. That includes loss of data, loss of income, and decisions made based on your buddy's replies or on stories shared on the platform.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to these Terms shall not exceed £100.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
11. Ending your use
You can ask us to delete your account at any time by emailing hello@mentorise.co.uk. We will delete your account and associated personal data, including stories you've shared, within 30 days.
We may suspend or close your account at any time if you break these Terms, with or without notice.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will tell you about material changes by email or with a notice on the platform. If you keep using Mentorise after changes take effect, you accept the revised Terms.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
